Why Owners and GCs Call Mars Civil
One license, the whole scope.
Class A General Engineering covers the work itself — underground utilities, mains, storm drain, earthwork, and street restoration — not a patchwork of subs.
Our own crews, our own equipment.
We self-perform with tracked trucks and iron we control, so your schedule isn’t hostage to someone else’s.
We put the street back.
Excavation is half the job. Backfill, compaction, concrete, and paving are done to spec and inspected — not left for the next crew.
Straight answers.
Years of experience in Southern California streets, soils, and agency requirements — and if a job isn’t right for us, we’ll say so before bid day, not after.
Based in Orange, California. Serving Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, and Ventura counties — roughly a 50-mile working radius, farther for the right public works scope.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does a Class A General Engineering license actually cover?
In California, the Class A license is the heavy civil classification. It covers fixed works like underground utilities, sewer and water systems, storm drain, earthwork, concrete structures, and paving — the infrastructure work that requires specialized engineering knowledge and equipment. Mars Civil operates under CSLB License #1138550, Class A – General Engineering. It’s a different license from a general building (B) license, and many public works scopes require it.
Can Mars Civil work on public works and prevailing wage projects?
Yes. We’re set up for public works — prevailing wage, certified payroll, and agency documentation — and we’re an SB-PW and SB(Micro) certified small business, Small Business Certification ID 2046756. That certification also helps agencies and prime contractors meet small business participation goals.
How fast can you turn a bid around?
It depends on the size of the plan set and our current bid calendar, and we’ll tell you the real answer up front. Send the plans with your due date through our bid request form — we confirm quickly whether we can hit it, and when we commit to a date, we meet it. A complete number on time beats a fast number that’s wrong.
What areas do you serve?
We’re based in Orange, California, and we work across Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, and Ventura counties — roughly a 50-mile radius for private work. For the right public works scope, talk to us about going farther.
Do you use trenchless methods, or is everything open-cut?
Both approaches have their place. Trenchless methods — like pipe bursting and lining — can replace or rehabilitate a line with far less digging, which matters under finished streets, landscaping, and structures. Open-cut gives full access to replace pipe, correct grade problems, and inspect bedding and joints directly. We evaluate the pipe’s condition, depth, soil, and what’s on the surface, then recommend the method that solves the actual problem — not the one that’s easiest to sell.
